Towards the end of their 8th grade year, Barrington children have an important decision to make. While Barrington has its own elementary and middle school, students must choose from three of the surrounding high schools to continue their education. Each student will receive a packet in which to list their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice schools. This guide aims to help demystify the options for Barrington students and parents.

Oyster River High School

Durham, NH

"Oyster River High School promotes a safe and nurturing community where the uniqueness of each member is valued."

Oyster River High School is a Public School that reserves 50 slots for Barrington students each year. If more than 50 students wish to attend, a lottery system will take place. Grade size will vary so this is not always a problem, but should be considered.  Learn more.

Dover High School

Dover, NH

“Dover High School is committed to the development of lifelong learners who strive to reach their full potential academically, civically, and socially.”

Dover High School is a Public School with unlimited spots. Barrington students are guaranteed entry should they choose this option.  Learn more.

Coe-Brown Northwood Academy

Northwood, NH

“Coe-Brown Northwood Academy strives to produce graduates who are academically and socially prepared to be responsible, caring and contributing members of the global society.”

Coe-Brown Northwood Academy is a Public Academy. Barrington students are guaranteed entry, however Barrington families will be asked to pay a deposit to confirm their commitment to attend Coe-Brown. This deposit will go towards the student’s dues, netbook deposit, and meal account.  Learn more.

While each school and its admissions process is different, bus transportation for all is included. Siblings are guaranteed the same school IF the older sibling will be attending the high school the year the incoming freshman is attending. Once students are enrolled in their high school’s school district, it is a guaranteed placement for the rest of their high school career. Students who move from another school district during the school year are handled on a case by case basis. Each school is unique and we recommend speaking with school administrators for more information regarding curriculum, extra-curriculars, and community.

The information in this article has been obtained directly from the school district as of Spring 2022. Parents are encouraged to contact the school district and/or each respective school to verify accuracy.
